As a reminder of the victims and a thank you to the fallen soldiers, the consulate representing the Russian Federation in the Czech Republic, together with the Pilsen Region and other partners, created the Catalogue of Russian War Graves in the Pilsen Region, both in printed and electronic forms. The ceremonial presentation of the catalogue took place in the Russian Centre on the premises of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. On behalf of the Pilsen Region, Vice President acting as President of the Pilsen Region Marcela Krejsová and Vice President Ivo Grüner took part in the official presentation of the book.
The Pilsen Region supported the publication of the catalogue financially from the grant program Support for the Care of Monuments, War Graves and Places of Worship in the Pilsen Region, which is only listed by the Pilsen Region, on the territory of which there are a total of 83 war graves with a total of 265 soldiers from World War II.
"I consider the care of war graves as a show of respect and also a thank you to those who fell during the war. We were inspired by a visit to the place of reverence for fallen soldiers in Italy," said Vice President acting as President of the Pilsen Region Marcela Krejsová.
Milan Jenčík, a long-term lover of the history of WW I and WW II, author and co-author of many books focused on the history of the Pilsen Region and the Sudetenland has a fundamental share in the creation of the catalogue. Milan Jenčík received a medal from the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation on the occasion of the presentation of the book.
