This international summit was organized as a preparatory event for the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) 2025, which will take place in Rome on July 10–11. On Friday, June 6, the Deputy Governor of the Pilsen Region for Transport, Pavel Čížek, attended the summit.
It was the largest gathering of local and regional representatives of Ukraine and their international partners, aiming to unite global efforts at regional and municipal levels toward the revitalization of liberated territories. The summit focused on sharing best practices in interregional cooperation, regional development, investment, public-private partnerships, digital transformation, and post-war human resource recovery.
The one-day plenary session addressed topics such as European integration of Ukraine and its regions, urban and regional reconstruction and development, local-level energy resilience, regional economic development, veteran centres as hubs for the resocialization of Ukrainian defenders, medical rehabilitation, and a “coalition” of shelters for the civilian population.
“The discussions involved energy sector restoration, school construction, and the goal of gradually ensuring bomb shelters for all children, as well as care for veterans, especially those with permanent disabilities, and social welfare. A major topic was Ukraine’s progress in meeting EU accession criteria — significant advances have been made. There was also discussion about implementing European programs, for example, cross-border initiatives between Poland and Ukraine,” said Deputy Governor Pavel Čížek, who attended the summit along with mayors of major European cities, ministers, the President of the Council of Europe, European Commission representatives, and others. He added: “I am pleased to have represented Czech regions at the European Cities and Regions Conference on the Recovery of Ukraine. I believe the cooperation between the Pilsen Region and the Ivano-Frankivsk Region will continue.”
