At the invitation of Regen District Councillor Rita Röhrl, President of the Pilsen Region Ilona Mauritzová visited the border areas, where she met with the Mayor of Bayerisch Eisenstein Michael Herzog and Herbert Unnasch, head of the Arberland Ski Stadium, which will host the European Biathlon Championship next January.
The aim of the meeting between District Councillor Röhrl and President of the Region Mauritzová was to evaluate cooperation and communication during the pandemic and to set up functional solutions in case the situation becomes complicated again. “This was our first meeting with the Councillor and I believe it will not be our last. We discussed vaccinations a lot, the situation of Czech cross-border workers, testing at the border and other topical issues,” said Mauritzová.
The whole meeting was organized by Bavaria–Bohemia coordinator Simona Fink, who then invited the President of the Pilsen Region to visit the oldest glassworks in the world, which is still in the hands of the Poschinger Family and where they admired the works of Czech glassmakers. “I was pleased to see that Czech glassmakers continue to help maintain the tradition of glassmaking in Pošumaví. Here in Frauenau, works of art that travel all over the world and carry the Czech footprint are created,” said President of the Region Mauritzová.
At the end of her visit to Lower Bavaria, President Mauritzová stopped at the Arberland Ski Stadium at the Grosser Arber, where there was a lot of construction activity in preparation for the European Biathlon Championship.
