By laying flowers at the Václav Havel bench in Plzeň, President of the Region Ilona Mauritzová, Vice President Pavel Karpíšek and the Chair of the Committee for the Environment, Agriculture and European Affairs Radka Trylčová commemorated the events of 17 November 1939 and 1989.
The Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy and the International Day of Students was commemorated not only by representatives of the Pilsen Region, but also by the City of Pilsen and the Pilsen 3 Municipal District Office by laying flowers at the Václav Havel bench in Šafaříkovy sady in Pilsen. The ceremony was also attended by Martin Baxa, Mayor of Pilsen, and representatives of the Plzeň 3 Municipality. All participants then moved from the bench to the obelisk, which commemorates the victims of communist terror. Flowers were also laid here.
