The Ambassador of Sweden was interested in economy and employment

On Tuesday, January 30, 2018, H.E. Anna Viktoria Li, Ambassador of Sweden to the Czech Republic, who has been in office since September 2016, visited the Pilsen Region. The ambassador was received by Ivo Grüner, Vice President of the Region.

As it was the Ambassador’s first visit to the Pilsen Region, a short film about the Pilsen Region was prepared at the beginning of the meeting. The ambassador was interested in the economic situation in our region and the changes the region has undergone in the past 15 years. The topics of the talks were low unemployment, and the associated issues of labour shortage and agency workers. The Deputy President spoke about the effort to support small businesses or firms where higher added value is being created and where research and collaboration with the university are supported.

The ambassador was also interested in the attitude of the inhabitants of the region to the European Union or their opinion on the introduction of the single European currency. Furthermore, tourism and the increase in the number of visitors to the region in connection with the ‘Pilsen - European Capital of Culture 2015’ title were discussed.

In the afternoon, the ambassador's way led from the Regional Office to the University of West Bohemia, where she had a meeting with the Mayor of Pilsen.
