Scala Arts & Heritage Publishers Ltd. London has been publishing the Director's Choice series for the past decade, featuring major world museums and galleries as seen by their directors. The latest addition to this edition is the selection of the director of the West Bohemian Gallery in Pilsen, Roman Musil, who in the Czech and English versions presents 37 significant works from the extensive art collections of this institution. The book presents works from the mid-14th century to the end of the 20th century.
The West Bohemian Gallery has thus been placed in an exclusive selection of world institutions such as the Albertina in Vienna, the National Gallery in London, the Alte and Neue Pinakothek in Munich, the New York Frick Collection and the Berlin Staatliche Museen.
The books of the St. Petersburg Hermitage and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao were published in the same year as the publication of the West Bohemian Gallery in Pilsen. The represented museums and galleries are in 22 countries on three continents.
The West Bohemian Gallery is yet the second Czech institution and the first Czech gallery to be included in this prestigious edition - the first was the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague in 2017.
Scala Arts & Heritage Publishers Ltd. representative Neil Titman commented: “We are really excited that the West Bohemian Gallery has joined the Director's Choice. From the very beginning, our cooperation was smooth and harmonious and it was a pleasure for us to cooperate with the highly professional team of the West Bohemian Gallery. We are very pleased with the final result - the publication has a distinctly Czech identity and adds a new dimension to the edition. "
Director of the West Bohemian Gallery in Pilsen Roman Musil said: “I personally appreciate the trust that Neil Titman showed us when he included the West Bohemian Gallery in this edition, which represents the world's most important art museums. It is great that the English version of our publication will be distributed by Scala Arts & Heritage Publishers to a number of leading cultural metropolises in Europe and overseas, allowing foreign readers to learn about the quality of our collections. "
The publication is offered for sale in both languages at the ticket offices of the West Bohemian Gallery showrooms in Pilsen. The English version of the book is distributed by Scala Arts & Heritage, along with other Director's Choice titles, now more than fifty, around the world - in the coming days, for example, at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
