The representatives of the Association of the Chambers of Commerce ‘Southwest’ and the District Chamber of Commerce, and businessmen headed by the representatives of the Pilsen Region visited the People's Republic of China at the turn of April and May. Part of the agenda of the meeting was signing a memorandum deepening cooperation in the economic and commercial fields.
The representatives of important companies from the Pilsen Region, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and regional politicians headed by the President of the Region Mr. Václav Šlajs participated in the working visit to the People's Republic of China from April 27 to May 2, 2014. The Czech delegation was received in Beijing by the Czech Ambassador Mr. Libor Sečka. A workshop ‘Czech Republic/Pilsen Region – Business and investments’ where the participating Czech businessmen presented their business opportunities was held in Beijing on the occasion of the visit.
The delegation then travelled from Beijing to Hangzhou in the sister Zhejiang Province where B2B negotiations between the businessmen from Zhejiang Province and the Pilsen Region were conducted. These negotiations were supported by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade CCPIT. The President of the Council Mrs. Wu Guying added her signature to the Agreement on mutual economic cooperation between the Association of the Chambers of Commerce ‘Southwest’ and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. “Mutual visits of delegations help strengthen relationships on business level, and therefore it is possible to plan mutual trade policies. Signing the Agreement on mutual economic cooperation confirms the interest of both parties in creating a business-friendly environment,” said Mr. Miloslav Zeman, Chairperson of the Board of the Association of the Chambers of Commerce ‘Southwest’, who signed the above mentioned agreement.
The meeting with the representatives of the province was also held at the political level. The Czech delegation was received by the Governor of Zhejiang Province Mr. Li Qiang. On this occasion, the President of the Pilsen Region Mr. Václav Šlajs and the Province Governor added their signatures under the extended memorandum on deepening the economic and commercial relations between Zhejiang Province and the Pilsen Region. “Although being much smaller compared to Zhejiang Province, the Pilsen Region can be an important partner and has a lot to be proud of. The Pilsen Region is one the prominent regions in the Czech Republic and thanks to its localization it is a gate to Western Europe,” said President Václav Šlajs upon signing the memorandum.
The Czech and Chinese businessmen will have another opportunity to develop mutual economic cooperation on Thursday, 29 May 2014, when a Czech-Chinese symposium is held in the congress hall of Parkhotel, Pilsen. The Czech businessmen will have an opportunity to meet the representatives of more than 70 Chinese companies.
