About fifty mayors of municipalities of the Pilsen Region met with the Minister of the Environment Richard Brabec and the President of the Region Josef Bernard on Thursday July 25, 2019.
The main topic of their meeting was the fight against drought.

The minister of the Environment has already had several meetings with mayors in the regions, where he along with the Director of the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic Petr Valdman explained the possibilities of drawing subsidies from the Ministry of the Environment aimed at combating drought, water management in the landscape or securing sources of drinking water in municipalities. During the two-hour debate, the mayors asked many specific questions concerning the financing of sewerage systems, waste water treatment plants, cleaning of ponds, renovation of damaged dams, deepening wells as well as forthcoming legislative changes. Councilor for the Environment and Agriculture of the Pilsen Region Radka Trylčová also took part in the debate.

According to Minister Brabec, water retention in the landscape is the number one priority and water is currently of the highest public interest.
