The representatives of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Prague, the official representation of Taiwan in the Czech Republic, visited the Pilsen Region, as they would like to establish closer cooperation with its administration and companies. The two regions have common themes, especially in the areas of transport, culture and education. The official visit took place first at the regional office, where the delegation of the Taiwanese office headed by its ambassador met with the President of the Pilsen Region Rudolf Špoták and the Vice Presidents Josef Bernard and Pavel Čížek.
“The Pilsen region is a traditionally industrial region, we want it to develop through modern technologies. And who else from the Asian region than Taiwan or Japan, for example, can help us in the development of high-tech technologies. After today’s meeting we expect future cooperation, we have already arranged some cultural events in which we will participate together. And this could lead to a stronger bond of cooperation, e.g. investments in the Pilsen region,” says Josef Bernard, Vice President for Environment and Agriculture.
After the mutual introduction of the two regions, the discussion focused on transport, which links the two regions despite their significant geographical differences. Agriculture was another key topic, as well as culture - especially the linking of regions for mutual understanding.
After the end of the official meeting, the delegation, accompanied by the President of the Region Rudolf Špoták, went on a tour of the research centre of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and then took a tour of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery and Škoda Transportation - two important companies of the Pilsen Region.
