More power generators worth CZK 1,000,000 have gone to the partner region of the Pilsen Region in Ukraine. In addition to the Pilsen Region, a number of municipalities are also participating in the purchase of the power generators. They are continuously contributing up to CZK 10,000 to humanitarian aid in the Ivano-Frankivsk Region.

A total of four shipments of humanitarian aid were transported to the partner region of the Pilsen Region of Ivano-Frankivsk via a shipping company. This time, the region purchased a total of 36 power generators worth CZK 945,000. “The power generators were transported from the warehouse in Ostrava the third week of February directly to the donor, i.e. to the office in our partner region in Ukraine. The people in the region are struggling with destroyed infrastructure. They have problems with electricity and heat. That is why we decided to help in this way for now. The power generators will be sent to the medical and social spheres and will also reach the civilian population,” says Rudolf Špoták, Governor of the Pilsen Region, adding:

“We transported the first humanitarian aid at the end of last April shortly after the visit of the Ukrainian Ambassador Yevhen Perebyjnis, when we provided CZK 5 million to Ukraine through the embassy. During the visit, based on the Ambassador’s recommendation in south-western Ukraine, we established contacts with representatives of the Ivano-Frankivsk Region and agreed on partnership cooperation with them.” The April shipment was followed by two more in July and December last year. “These were medical supplies and two ambulances. One of them was equipped with a defibrillator. In addition, my colleagues and I carried electric generators, microwaves, kettles or, for example, groundsheets,” adds Rudolf Špoták on the support of the partner area for 2022.
Some municipalities from the Pilsen region also joined in the aid. “On an ongoing basis, municipalities send us financial support according to their means. At the moment we have CZK 160,000 from six municipalities. The municipality of Kdyně has contributed directly by purchasing an electric generator. I would like to thank the mayors and all those who participated in the aid. It is not as obvious or as obligatory as it might seem,” says Rudolf Špoták.
