Five members were entered into the Pilsen Region President’s 2013 Hall of Fame on 23 September 2013.

This is the fifth year the Pilsen Region President’s Hall of Fame has been opened, welcoming five VIPs to the select group – three-time Olympic gold medallist Kateřina Emmons, poet and translator Hana Gerzanicová, actor, playwright and theatre director Antonín Procházka, fighter pilot General Miroslav Štandera and physician and professor Jiří Valenta, M.D.

All of the 2013 Hall of Famers were born in Pilsen Region or have long lived in the region, and the impact of their efforts extends beyond the region’s borders. Moreover, this year they celebrated an important anniversary.

These are people who inspire the rest of us, people who we can learn from and who help push us forward. It is my great honour and joy to welcome them to our region’s symbolic Hall of Fame, said Pilsen Region President Milan Chovanec. The regional president was on hand to welcome the five members to the Pilsen Region President’s 2013 Hall of Fame together with the woman who founded this tradition, Senator and former Pilsen Region President Milada Emmerová.
